Significant changes resulting from COVID plus political and constitutional makeover are sweeping through the territory. In tumultuous times like this, how do we make sense of values like freedom, justice and democracy? How do we recover hope and a sense of direction? What can we do to mend the divides in society and reinstate trust in one another?

In the 2021 summer Peace Fellowship, we invited fellows to examine these questions through the peace lens and to draw lessons from other places that have experienced significant social unrest and political changes.

Words from our Fellows
"
The Peace Fellowship is a near-perfect experience. It is a meaningful, rewarding and stimulating programme that creates a safe space for all of us fellows. Spending my summer with all the other fellows and the Peace Generation team is one of the best decisions I have made!
"

"
The Peace Lab really empowers me and makes me realise that it is not difficult to create social impact, or at least, support the community I care about. The Lab serves as a good consolidation for what we have learnt during the workshop week. My favourite part is the interviews with stakeholders which allowed us to practise empathy with others. I really enjoyed working with my groupmates, mentors and the Peace Generation team.

"
The Peace Fellowship is a warm place that welcomes diverse ideas. It is a safe space for fellows to share our views and to be our most genuine selves.
"

"
Peace is not just for war-torn places. Peace is for everyone.
"

"
I have learnt that It is important not to approach people with the intention to solve their problems, but to build connections with them so that we become part of the social convoy that supports the whole community in turbulent times.
"

"
There are so many resources and ideas that people can contribute to their communities. The visits to civil society organisations lead me to think about how I can better connect with my communities to address issues I feel most strongly about.
"

"
The Peace Fellowship provided a space where there is room for discussion and disagreement. I never feel lectured or patronised throughout the programme.
"

"
Before joining the Peace Fellowship, I was quite sceptical about peace. Now I am willing to be more open-minded and see the value of having different views and perspectives..
"

"
I have a more positive outlook on the future after completing the fellowship programme. I realise that there are still things I can do and want to do, and I am going to start doing them one step at a time.
